Yeah… No One Talks About How Hard Surrender Really Is

Let’s get real. Nobody talks about how hard surrender really is. Everyone makes it sound easy: "Just trust God. Just let go."

But if you’ve been there—staring at bills, bullied by humans, condemned, judged, stepped on, pushed aside, or having your life scrutinized—you know it’s not that easy.

I’ve been waiting for a download from the Holy Spirit about what to talk about next. I didn’t want fluff. I wanted to be raw, real, and transparent, to share my honest journey through the fire that led me to surrender.

Do You Know How Hard It Is to Trust the Invisible?

ree

Do you know how confusing it is to trust something you cannot see? Something everyone seems to have a different opinion about. Religious groups, teachings, other humans—they all tell you something different. Which one do you follow? How do you even begin to know what’s real?

As humans, this confusion is constant. You try to pray, you try to release it, but your mind keeps spinning: Maybe this is the wrong way. Maybe I should be doing more. Maybe it’s not for me.

Here’s the truth: the soul never lies. Even when your mind is spinning in chaos, your soul recognizes truth. Your soul knows when something is aligned with God. The trick is learning to listen to that quiet voice and act on it, even when everything else says otherwise.

The World vs. God

Growing up, I was taught to do things:

  • Get a job

  • Go to school

  • Earn a degree

  • Work hard

  • Achieve success

Everything was about doing. About moving. About performing.

ree

The world teaches: do, have, be. God teaches: be, do, have.

Not once did anyone ask me: “Who do you want to be?” The focus was always on what I needed to do to get somewhere, not who I needed to be. That shift—the God shift—changes everything.

I remember thinking for years, I just need to figure it out. I need to make this work. I need to prove I’m worthy. And yet, no matter what I did, nothing felt aligned. I was constantly trying to fix life with my human logic, my human timing, my human hustle.

The Human Fire

ree

Nobody talks about how hard it actually is to surrender.

You’ll hear all the pretty phrases — “just let go,” “have faith,” “trust God” — but nobody prepares you for the battle that happens inside when you’re really being tested.

I remember thinking: "Why isn’t this working? I’m doing everything right. I’m praying, I’m fasting, I’m reading my Bible… so why does it still feel like everything around me is falling apart?"

Here’s what I finally realized:

God is a jealous God. He doesn’t compete with what we’ve made idols in our lives—not people, not our titles, not the things we’re chasing just to feel safe or seen.

And the truth is, I had been seeing myself through the lens of man, not the eyes of God. That’s where I got it wrong.

Because God isn’t a liar. His word is full of promises, but He can’t pour out His provision if our loyalty is divided.

The Bible isn’t just a religious text — it’s a manual of laws, principles, rights, and promises from a King to His citizens. It’s the constitution of the Kingdom of God. And once I started seeing it that way, everything shifted.

We were taught wrong. We were taught to get to heaven when the truth is, our assignment is to bring heaven to earth.

In the King’s domain—the Kingdom—the King owns everything. Not the kingdom itself, but the King who governs it. Every resource—money, houses, ideas, opportunities—belongs to Him.

ree

When I started seeing myself as a steward of the King’s resources instead of the owner of my circumstances, surrender got easier. Every thought, word, and move became about expanding His government on earth, not trying to control mine.

That’s the real shift. That’s when worry loses its power. Once you know who you are, whose you are, and what you actually are—a divine citizen of the Kingdom of God—surrender stops feeling like loss. It becomes partnership.

Who You Are

We are in a King’s domain called Earth.

  • The Kingdom owns everything.

  • The Kingdom takes care of everyone.

  • You are an heir of God—created in His image (Genesis 1:27).

  • All your needs are meant to be provided for by the King.

  • If the King doesn’t keep His promises, it reflects on Him.

Surrendering means stepping fully into this truth. It’s no longer about forcing, hustling, or pleading—it’s about alignment.

Once I realized this, everything shifted. I stopped trying to fix life with human logic. I stopped letting human opinions dictate my worth. I started walking in kingdom alignment, and everything began to make sense.

Faith vs. Worry

ree

Let me be very clear: faith and worry cannot exist in the same container.

Faith is letting go. Faith is saying: I know God is in charge. I trust Him.

Worry is the mind replaying the same doubts, the same “what ifs,” over and over. Even when you say, “I know God’s got this,” if your mind keeps spinning, that is still worry.

Example:

  • I’d set a bill aside and think, “God, I know you’ll provide this. I trust You.”

  • Then my mind would jump: “But what if it doesn’t come through? What if I made a mistake? What if I’m not enough?”

  • I’d tell myself: “No, God’s got this. I release it.”

  • Thirty minutes later, my mind would circle back to the same worry.

Even that small repetition is worry. Faith is when you say: “I’m done. Aba, take it from here.” And your mind stops circling. That’s surrender.

The Caveats

ree

God said in Matthew 6:33:

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Seeking the kingdom isn’t just a spiritual phrase. It means understanding the King’s rules, promises, laws, and principles, and aligning your heart, mind, and actions with His will.

It’s not about hustle or trying harder. It’s about knowing the King, His ways, and your positioning in His kingdom. That is what makes prayers land and blessings manifest.

This blog is about surrender, but I’m planting seeds here about seeking the kingdom. In a future post, we’ll dive into why some prayers don’t land and what it truly means to seek God’s kingdom.

Walking Through the Fire

Surrender is:

  • Strength

  • Courage

  • Clarity

It’s saying:

I know who I am. I know whose I am. Aba, take it from here.

The world will try to confuse you, distract you, and make you doubt. You’ll feel invisible, impatient, frustrated. That’s the fire. That’s refining you. That’s preparing you to step fully into your power.

I’ve walked that fire. I’ve fought through it. That’s what The Rich Rebuild is about: reclaiming your power, rebuilding your life from the inside out, stepping into who God called you to be.

Reflection: Your Surrender

Ask yourself:

  • Where am I holding onto control instead of trusting Aba?

  • What human opinions or judgments am I listening to that I shouldn’t?

  • How can I step fully into my identity as a child of God and let Him handle the rest?

Surrender isn’t a moment. It’s a daily choice. It’s messy. It’s uncomfortable. But when you release fully, faith breathes, prayers land, and your life starts to line up with God’s promises.

So today, take a breath. Let go. Align your heart. Step into your identity. Watch surrender transform your life.

That’s the sweet spot. That’s exactly where God wants you to be. That’s surrender.

A Note on Scripture and Discernment

While I reference scriptures throughout this blog, I acknowledge that the Bible has been translated and interpreted by many over centuries. Different versions may reflect human perspectives, intentions, and biases. It’s crucial to approach the Bible with discernment and personal study.

The soul always recognizes truth. This is one of the reasons I stopped attending church religiously as I was taught. That’s a whole other conversation, but I want to plant seeds here to leave you curious and wanting to come back.
